Dr. Rita Seethaler has an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Berne, Switzerland, and a PhD in Transport Planning from Monash University. She worked for 13 years for the Swiss Federal Office for Statistics and the Swiss Bureau of Transport Studies. She immigrated to Australia in 1999 and started work as a Director of The Urban Transport Institute in 2000. In 2018, she was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her work in establishing a community steelband project for bushfire-affected communities in the Marysville and Triangle area, following the 2009 Victorian bushfires.
